Syracuse center William Patterson has reportedly entered the transfer portal, according to multiple sources. The news was first released on X by Jackson Holzer of LockedOnSyracuse.

The lone member of SU’s 2023 recruiting class, the 7-foot-2 Patterson enrolled at Syracuse as an unranked recruit — per 247Sports — out of Bishop Walsh High School in Maryland. He also received offers from Rutgers, Oklahoma State and Texas Christian University. Patterson did not see any action throughout the 2023-24 campaign as he opted to redshirt his freshman season.

Patterson’s departure marks the eighth Syracuse player to leave the program this offseason. Seven decided to transfer while former point guard Judah Mintz declared for the NBA Draft. And with the portal officially closing on May 1, Patterson joins Quadir Copeland and Mounir Hima as the only three players without a new home.

For now, the Orange’s frontcourt — which struggled late this past season due to injury woes — feature 7-foot-4 senior Naheem McLeod and transfers Eddie Lampkin Jr. and Jyáre Davis.
